SharePoint Framework for the Mining Industry
May 13, 2011
Perth, Australia, May 13, 2011 –Following the recent announcement by Cadac Organice, Clayko Group, a Cadac Organice partner and reseller of the Cadac Organice product suite (a SharePoint based solution for engineering document management and document control), announce implementation services for the Cadac SharePoint framework for the mining industry.
The Cadac Organice Product Suite offers solutions for engineering document management and document control and is entirely based on Microsoft SharePoint. Leveraging SharePoint as the platform for Enterprise Content Management and Collaboration, Cadac Organice is especially suitable for project-driven engineering industries like the mining industry. Over the years, it has been implemented worldwide by several mining companies, mining projects and suppliers to the mining industry. Examples are Exxarro, Koniambo Nickel SAS (a joint venture between the government of New Caledonia and Xstrata Nickel and executed by Hatch and Technip), and Sinclair Knight Merz, providing engineering consulting services to the mining industry.
Based on their experience with these companies, Cadac Organice has developed a SharePoint framework to manage all operational documents in mining projects, such as engineering (CAD), quality, regulatory, specifications, and vendor documents, procedures, policies and external communications. The SharePoint document and content structure, as well as predefined libraries and lists, content and document types, metadata fields and values are aligned with policies and working methods in the mining industry. The framework gives mining companies a head start in using SharePoint and Cadac Organice for the engineering document management and document control needs.
“The Cadac Organice framework for SharePoint will allow implementation partners like us (Clayko Group) to deploy solutions faster and at a reduced cost” advises Clayko General Manager Sheryl Frame.
“With the high cost of constructing, operating and maintaining operations, the ability to bring a project forward, even by a few days, equates to big dollars in savings that we can help customers realise”.
The SharePoint mining framework is part of Cadac Organice Explorer (a smart client for Microsoft SharePoint and enhancing SharePoint with functionality for engineering document management), and available from May 1st, 2011.
